Winter at Ettrick Rocks - Roaring 40's spectacle - Front row seats only

Winter Special Packages

Ettrick Rocks' retreats are located on the west coast of King Island directly in line of the roaring 40's latitude with the weather in winter at times being wild, moody and exciting. The stormy conditions when stirring the great Southern Ocean will have you sitting on the edge of your seat as the ocean swells increasing in height and speed approaching the retreat seem to swallow any obstacle in its path, only for that powerful energy to be dissipated in a violent crash with the rock stacks, acting as sentinels, fronting the property.

Being just 50m from the shoreline the wide panels of thick glazing separating you and the outside weather can be exhilarating, thrilling and yet so calming, knowing that you are protected by the retreat's aerodynamic design, kept warm by its cosy gas log fireplace, and feeling snuggly and relaxed on the  comfortable chaise/sofa lounges that offer front row seats to the most spectacular theatre that only Nature can provide.... A Winter Holiday, why not!

Enjoy 5 or more nights of total relaxation and receive 1 night for free.

Reserve any of the three luxurious retreats for 5 or more nights and stay one extra night for free. All retreats offer King beds, luxurious linen, large kitchen, spacious living area and high speed wifi. The three houses are separated at a distance from each other to provide privacy

Pimelea -  is a large one bedroom luxury retreat suitable for couples or two people travelling together. Sitting high has magnificent and uninterrupted views of the great Southern Ocean and surrounding landscape.

Australina - Sitting low and closer to the ocean than its sister retreats, provides an intimate connection with the landscape and the unique rocks formations fronting the retreat. A two bedroom retreat suitable for two couples or 4 people happy to split beds. None of the views from its lower position are compromised.

Caladenia - A large house with three bedrooms and cantilevered floor in the living area, sits proudly on the dunes facing the full brunt of the great Southern Ocean. Suitable for a group of 6 people. All beds are King sized and can be split into 6 single beds.

Your Winter Haven detailed from room to room

The Living Space

The Living space is open and free flowing. This is the space where you can be most creative or simply unwind and relax. A comfortable chaise sofa lounge large enough for guests to stretch out is appropriately positioned to take in the spectacular and uninterrupted views offered through the large floor to ceiling glass spanning the entire living area.

An upright brick chimney just wide enough to accommodate a cosy log fire, Smart TV and sound system is strategically positioned to add ambience and warmth, yet not detracting from the amazing views fronting the retreat.

The lighting system in the living area consists of an LED dimmer controlled system that can be adjusted to set your mood.

Large double glazed sliding doors connecting the outside BBQ deck to the living, kitchen and dining areas provide an integrated entertainment space with the ocean views remaining constantly the main focal point.

Point of Interest

When entering  the retreats you may notice a metallic ridge line on the floor, which runs diagonally from the end of the BBQ deck to the corner end of the living area. The floor at this juncture mitres creating an arrow shape following the general aerodynamic design of the retreats. The ridge line points true west in line with the Roaring 40's latitude.

The Kitchen and Dining Area

A modern contemporary kitchen compliments the design of the retreat equipped with high quality appliances to assist with putting together some of your favourite recipes. Spacious and functional the kitchen combines floor to ceiling cabinetry that follows the smooth lines of the the raked roof with a beautifully designed kitchen island for meal preparations and those get together breakfasts. A mirrored splash-back ensures none of the action outside is missed even when one's back is turned away whilst stirring the pot.

A large beautifully timber crafted dining table adds that extra touch to enjoy the delicious produce that King Island is so famous for.

The Spacious and comfortable Bedrooms

A winter holiday at Ettrick Rocks is more than just nature's amazing theatrics. It is also about comfort, and creating a personal sanctuary for your well awaited holiday.

The bedrooms are spacious and designed to make you feel relaxed with comfortable beds, soft blankets and 5-star quality linen and pillows. There is also a large cushioned window seat, a Smart TV, wall heater and a mirrored study desk. Inside the bedroom there are many functional items that will keep you as connected or as disconnected as you wish to be to the rest of the world.

A private ensuite with floor heating adjoins the bedroom, with walk-in shower, toilet and basin. Some of the bathrooms also include an insert bathtub. A large window, with automated blinds for privacy, ensure the views remain constantly the centre of attraction
